Vancouver’s Ashton College has launched live, fully interactive, online courses through its newest educational platform, Ashton Connect.
The first course that will be done through Ashton Connect is for the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation, but there will be more to come, including:
- Life License Qualification Program (LLQP);
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC); and
- Chartered Health Insurance Specialist (CHS).
Ashton Connect uses web conferencing software provided by Adobe Connect. Using interactive webinars, streaming voice and video chat applications, as well as interactive whiteboards and instant document sharing, the virtual classroom is available on nearly any Internet-accessible device. It can even be used on some mobile devices, making online education even more flexible.
Students can get all the benefits of being in-class, from anywhere in the world.
“We put a lot of hard work in to creating an online curriculum that would appeal to today’s technically-focused professionals, and I believe we’ve accomplished what we set out to do,” says Jane Chang, vice president and director of business Development
The Ashton Connect platform should appeal to the mobile generation: young professionals who grew up with computers and the Internet at their fingertips.
Currently, 20 students are enrolled in two separate classes.
