The Canadian Business Hall of Fame is welcoming two former big-bank CEOs into its ranks.

Ed Clark, former president and CEO of Toronto-Dominion Bank, and Gordon Nixon, former president, CEO and director of Royal Bank of Canada, both of Toronto, will be inducted as Companions of the Order of the Business Hall of Fame at a gala in Toronto on Thursday.

Other inductees receiving the honour for 2016 are Rick George, former president and CEO of Calgary-based Suncor Energy Inc., Frank Hasenfratz, chairman of Guelph, Ont.-based Linamar Corp., and Linda Hasenfratz, CEO of Linamar.

“It brings me great pleasure to recognize these exceptional Canadians for their lifetime accomplishments, and the legacy they have created for future generations,” says L.R. Wilson, chancellor of the Order of the Business Hall of Fame, in a statement. “Their everlasting contributions to our society merit the full honour of being awarded Canada’s most distinguished business order.”

Inductees into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame are business leaders nominated by their peers and chosen by an independent selection committee representing Canada’s top business and academic institutions.

The annual gala dinner and the induction ceremony also acts as a fundraising event for Junior Achievement (JA) of Canada, an organization dedicated to inspiring and educating youth interested in entering the business field. JA Canada founded the Canadian Business Hall of Fame in 1979.

“We are deeply grateful to the Canadian Business Hall of Fame for their ongoing support of JA Canada,” says Kevin Dane, chairman of the board of directors for JA Canada, in a statement. “The remarkable individuals honoured here tonight have shown a great commitment to the future of business, and are true role models for Canada’s next generation of business leaders.”
