Finance minister Jim Flaherty today announced the appointment of Barry Moore to the board of directors of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corp.

Moore is a senior auditor with Dumoulin Ethier Lacroix CA and served as the MP for the riding of Pontiac–Gatineau–Labelle from 1984 to 1993. He will take up his three-year term immediately.

“I am very pleased to appoint someone who brings such an excellent combination of business and public experience to this board,” stated Flaherty.

Moore, a Certified General Accountant, served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue and as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism).

Before and after his elected service, he has worked as a senior auditor with Dumoulin Ethier Lacroix CA.

Active in his community, he has served as president of Centraide Gatineau–Labelle–Hautes–Laurentides. He is also past president of the board of the caisse populaire Desjardins de Maniwaki.

CDIC is a federal Crown corporation established in 1967 to provide up to $100,000 deposit insurance against the loss of eligible deposits with member institutions in the event of their failure. Member institutions include banks, trust companies and loan companies.
