Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, is planning a one-day event to energize and inspire financial services practitioners for the year ahead.

Advocis’ president and CEO, Greg Pollock, says The Time is Now event “was organized as a result of the request of our members. What better time to hold such an event as the beginning of a new year.”

“We have a complete line-up of top-notch motivational and inspirational speakers on hand to ensure that, at the end of the day, everyone who attends this event will be really ready to take on the challenges of the year ahead,” Pollock adds.

Federal finance minister Jim Flaherty will be the special guest speaker at the event, to be held in Toronto on January 15.

Advocis is expecting more than 700 advisors and planners will meet to hear such speakers as Melissa Wandall on “The Power of Life Insurance” and Richard Croft on “Passive vs Active Investing.”

Ross Morton from LOGiQ3 Underwriting Solutions Inc. will be speaking about the pressures on an advisor’s practice and, with more than 35 years in the industry, Don Smith will address some of the ups and downs to be experienced by advisors and what can be done to come out up top.

In addition, communications coach, strategist and speaker, Teresa Easler will speak to changing how advisors and planners view their practices.

Also scheduled to speak is: Guy Baker, president of the Million Dollar Round Table; living benefits advisor, Corry Collins; and Front Street Capital portfolio manager, Frank Mersch.

“The members asked us for an event like this and we are pleased to be able to deliver,” says Pollock. “I’m confident that this event will be well received.”
