Foreign investors acquired $10.5 billion worth of Canadian securities in November, adding more private sector and government bonds to their portfolios.

Statistics Canada says that Canadians, meanwhile, added $2.4 billion of foreign securities in the month, as they returned to U.S. government debt instruments.

The agency says Canadians were also starting to slow their sales of foreign stocks, divesting $178 million in November, easing from a sharper sale in the previous two months.

Foreign investors continued to adjust their holdings of Canadian debt securities to longer term instruments in November.

They added $12.9 billion of Canadian bonds to their portfolios, and disposed of $1.9 billion of short-term securities.
