The Canadian Museum for Human Rights received a boost to its capital campaign today with a $750,000 donation from TD Bank Financial Group.

The Winnipeg museum, which is scheduled to be completed by 2010, will be the largest human rights centre in the world.

“The new museum will be an architecturally stunning monument to the importance of the rights and freedoms of Canadians. It will be a vital and constant reminder of the places we have been and the places we should never go again,” said Rob MacLellan, executive vp and chief investment officer, TD Bank Financial Group. “We’re proud to support a museum that aims to advance our society by nurturing and encouraging the discussion of human rights issues.”

The museum needs to raise over $100 million from private sources in order to secure the full federal government commitment of $100 million. Total project costs are estimated at $293 million.
