State Street Global Advisors, Ltd. on Tuesday announced the termination and liquidation, effective November 1, of the SSgA Dow Jones Canada Titans 40 Index Participation Fund. The exchange traded fund is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol DJF.

“We decided to terminate the fund as a result of the low trading volumes observed since the fund’s creation,” said Jean Dumoulin, president and managing director of SSgA in Canada.

Effective August 7, no subscription offers for new units of the fund will be accepted. Redemption orders for basket positions and for cash will be processed until the fourth TSX trading day (the final trading day) immediately preceding the November 1termination date.

The outstanding units of the fund will continue to be listed and posted for trading on the TSX and units may be purchased or sold on the TSX in the ordinary course of business until the final trading day, which is expected to be October 28.

A formal notice of termination will be sent to the unitholders, providing a summary of the key elements necessary to terminate the fund and liquidate its portfolio assets in an orderly fashion.
