PricewaterhouseCoopers today announced the launch of its new team volunteering program. Beginning this month, all PwC Canada staff will be eligible to receive a day off work to participate in a team-based volunteer activity in their community.
To encourage participation, PwC is organizing over 75 volunteer opportunities for staff in locations across Canada this year. The activities include throwing a beach party for hospitalized children, restoring and caring for environmentally sensitive parkland, and assisting smaller charities in capacity-building projects.
The volunteer program is one of several initiatives of the PwC Canada Foundation. Established in 2004, the foundation’s mission is to make a positive, lasting change in the community by sharing time, expertise and resources. Its programs include the Volunteer Grants Program, which provides grants to charities where PwC people volunteer, and the Volunteer Recognition Program, which recognizes and celebrates the extraordinary volunteer efforts of staff while giving financial awards to their charities.
“The Team Volunteering Program is a further demonstration of our firm’s commitment to active corporate citizenship,” says Chris Clark, Canadian senior [artner and CEO of PwC. “I believe that our collective time, skills and effort will make a real difference in our communities across the country.”
In Canada, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and its related entities have more than 4,200 partners and staff, and offices in 25 locations.
