The Ontario Securities Commission on Monday announced the appointment of Jeff Kehoe as enforcement director, effective Oct. 11.
Kehoe has more than a decade of experience overseeing the Canadian capital markets as director and vice president of enforcement at the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC).
He left IIROC in 2013 to join Toronto-based merchant banking firm Difference Capital Financial Inc. and became chairman of Ontario Capital Growth Corp. in 2014.
Prior to joining IIROC’s predecessor, the Investment Dealers Association of Canada (IDA) in 2001, Kehoe served as a crown attorney and Department of Justice crown counsel.
“As the head of Canada’s largest securities enforcement program, Jeff’s role is important in delivering fair, vigorous and timely enforcement that will be critical to market confidence and trust,” says Maureen Jensen, OSC chairwoman and CEO, in a news release. “Jeff’s extensive career in securities enforcement, litigation and criminal law, make him ideal for this key role.”
Kehoe also currently serves on both private and public boards.
He has law degrees from the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy, and a masters in law from Osgoode Hall Law School.
