Toronto-based Hamilton Capital Partners Inc. announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Howard Atkinson to its board of directors
Atkinson, an ETF pioneer in Canada and former president of Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc., joins Robert Brooks, retired Bank of Nova Scotia vice chairman and group treasurer and current Canada Pension Plan Investment Board member, as independent directors of Hamilton Capital, a financial services-focused investment manager that manages Hamilton Capital Global Bank ETF.
“With Hamilton Capital’s expansion into the ETF market, we are happy to have Howard join our team,” said, Robert Wessel, managing partner of Hamilton Capital, in a statement. “Howard’s extensive investment industry expertise and insight, particularly as the retired president of Horizons ETFs, makes him an excellent complement to our organization”.
Atkinson has spent 30 years in the investment industry, with executive positions at Mackenzie Financial Corp., CI Funds, Barclays Global Investors Canada Ltd, Horizons ETFs and Tax Matters for Dentists. He is also the past founding chairman of the Canadian ETF Association, a past president of the CFA Society Toronto
Atkinson has authored several of books on ETFs, including The New Investment Frontier: A Guide to Exchange Traded Funds for Canadians, and continues to be an active advisor, serving on several public and private boards.
