The Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) is calling for nominations for the 2010 Donald J. Johnston Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession of Financial Planning in Canada.
The award recognizes and celebrates the spirit, imagination, dedication and contribution of those individuals whose unique achievements and outstanding service have continued to advance the profession.
The 2010 award winner will be the fifth honoree since its 2006 inauguration. Johnston, founder and retired president of FPSC and namesake of the award, was its first recipient; past winners include Patricia Lovett-Reid (2009), Jim Rogers (2008), and Alastair Rickard (2007).
“The DJJ award provides an opportunity to celebrate the individuals and groups of individuals who have helped raise the profession, as well as the profile of financial planning and its importance for Canadians,” says Ellen Roseman, chairwoman of FPSC’s DJJ Committee.
Nominees will be evaluated by the 2010 DJJ Committee on criteria including the following:
– advancement of the status of the profession;
– advancement of the standards of the profession;
– reflection/embodiment of the profession;
– industry visibility and knowledge; and
– impact of contribution.
Submissions made in writing and submitted to FPSC postmarked on or before June 30 will be considered. Submissions also can be sent by email.
Nominees will be reviewed by the 2010 DJJ Committee. The committee will select the nominee(s) for the consideration of the FPSC board of directors. The FPSC board will make its final decision on the 2010 recipient at its spring meeting and will announce the winner in October during Financial Planning Week (October 4-10).
