The Co-operators Group has hired a new CFO. Kevin Daniel will succeed Peter Crawford as the company’s SVP finance, and CFO.

The appointment is effective March 1, 2003 and allows for a transition period until April when Crawford retires from the position he has held since 1988.

Daniel has been with Co-operators for 16 years, holding positions such as VP finance for both The Co-operators Life Insurance Co and Co-operators General Insurance Co — the group’s two largest insurance operations.

Since 2000, he has also served as a director on the Board of COSECO, HB Group and Federated Agencies, other entities within The Co-operators Group.

Reflecting on his most recent challenges, Daniel noted that “Despite the
climate in which the property and casualty industry has been operating for the past two years, I am very proud of the inherent strength within Co-operators General Insurance Company and its ability to respond to its current challenges. I am looking forward to the opportunity to build on the strong financial foundation that exists in this organization.”
