Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa announced Thursday that he will unveil the province’s 2017 budget on April 27.

Sousa made the announcement in a speech to the Empire Club of Canada in Toronto.

Sousa also revealed that the province generated real gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 2.7% in 2016, and that GDP grew by 0.5% in the fourth quarter, slowing from 0.7% growth in the third quarter.

He also reiterated his pledge to balance the budget.

“Ontario is creating jobs, the economy is growing, and we will deliver on our commitment to balance the budget this year,” Sousa said.

“A balanced budget and strong economic growth allow us to continue making important investments in the services and supports that people rely on, including health care and education.”
