Jill Denham has been appointed to the board of directors of National Bank of Canada, the bank said Friday.

Her appointment to takes effect October 27.

A corporate director, Denham served in a number of management positions related to financial markets over her career with a CIBC.

In 2005, Denham resigned as vice chairwoman, retail markets at CIBC following a reorganization of the bank’s retail banking operations.

“We are pleased to welcome another director with such vast experience in financial markets and securities,” said Jean Douville, chairman of the board, National Bank (TSX:NA).
