The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) announced Wednesday that it will host an industry roundtable next month to discuss the growing cybersecurity threat to brokers and investment advisors.
The full-day event on June 23, featuring representatives from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Treasury, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), along with other regulators and industry participants, will examine critical cybersecurity issues in the securities sector.
The session will also examine how small- and mid-sized investment advisor and broker-dealer firms can protect critical client information.
“Cyberattacks continue to be one of the greatest threats to our financial sector and should be a top priority concern for entities regulated by NASAA members,” says Mike Rothman, president of the group and Minnesota Commissioner of Commerce, in a statement.
The roundtable will take place in Washington, D.C. NASAA will also live stream the event for those who can’t attend in person.
