Excel Funds Management Inc. is launching three new funds, the emerging markets specialist said Tuesday.
The new offerings include two income funds: Excel EM High Income Fund and Excel EM Capital Income Fund. These funds are designed for investors seeking the dramatic growth potential of the emerging markets and an income stream.
Excel EM High Income Fund is an actively managed, diversified portfolio of sovereign and corporate emerging market fixed income instruments issued by corporations, government, or government-related entities
Excel EM Capital Income Fund is esigned to generate tax-efficient returns. It provides investors with higher yielding fixed income solution which is also tax-efficient. This fund seeks to generate and pay out a monthly distribution that will be considered as capital gains for tax efficiency.
The new income funds are managed by Sergei Strigo, head of emerging market debt & currency at Amundi Asset Management. Based in Paris, Amundi is the eighth largest asset manager in the world.
A third new fund, Excel Emerging Markets Fund, is for investors seeking growth through equity exposure to the developing economies.
This fund provides investors with equity exposure to companies based in the rapidly growing economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China (including Hong Kong & Taiwan) and other emerging markets and to international companies expected to benefit from the emerging market economies.
“The drivers in emerging markets include massive growth in the middle class, economic reform and change, a young demographic, vast natural resources, increasing foreign direct investment, better credit quality and the acceleration of infrastructure spending. Investors should see strong growth,” says Bhim Asdhir, president and CEO of Toronto-based Excel Funds.
“The only way managers can be on top of what’s happening in their markets is by being on the ground so they can see the market change. Through top-ranked sub-advisers like Amundi Asset Management, we gain an edge and presence and can actively manage our portfolios. Our exclusive agreements with our managers mean we are the only company in Canada that has access to the expertise and experience of these managers,” Asdhir adds.
