Mackenzie Founders Global Equity Class, a new diversified global portfolio designed to provide long-term growth of capital, was introduced Wednesday by Mackenzie Financial Corp.
The new fund offers investors the combined benefits of the Mackenzie Cundill and Mackenzie Ivy investment teams. Mackenzie says the teams’ investment styles complement each other and provide exposure to a broad range of global investment opportunities.
“Although Mackenzie Cundill Value Fund and Mackenzie Ivy Foreign Equity Fund are strong funds on a stand-alone basis, together they have proved to be a remarkable fund pair, producing historically high risk-adjusted returns,” says Terry O’Sullivan, executive vice president and national sales manager of Mackenzie Financial Services.
“Many advisors have been purchasing these Cundill and Ivy funds together on behalf of their clients for years. Now, with a single purchase of Mackenzie Founders Global Equity Class, advisors and investors can more easily access the benefits of this exceptional fund duo, without the need to co-ordinate rebalance transactions.”
Mackenzie says the portfolio management teams will manage their respective equal portions of the fund in a manner consistent with Mackenzie Ivy Foreign Equity Fund and Mackenzie Cundill Value Fund.
Mackenzie Ivy Foreign Equity Fund combines both growth and value investment styles, pursuing long-term growth by investing predominantly in a select group of high-quality multinational companies based outside of Canada. Mackenzie Cundill Value Fund employs a deep value investment approach, seeking long-term growth by investing in a broad range of undervalued global equities.
“Sales into equity mutual funds have slowed since the market correction of 2008-2009, despite a rebound in most major markets,” says Bob Tattersall, chief investment officer of Mackenzie Financial. “Mackenzie Founders Global Equity Class offers investors a comfortable global equity solution with a fund that has proven portfolio managers and historically low volatility.”
Mackenzie Founders Global Equity Class is one of more than 50 corporate funds offered by Mackenzie Investments. The corporate funds are designed to maximize after-tax returns by minimizing taxable distributions, and investors may switch between corporate funds on a tax-deferred basis.
The fund is available in both Canadian and U.S. dollar versions.
