Toronto-Dominion Bank (TSX:TD) has won an award for its efforts to promote financial literacy in the United States.
The Financial Services Roundtable, a U.S. trade group, honoured the bank with its Leadership in Financial Literacy award for completing 825 financial education projects, leading the industry in the third quarter of 2010.
“Communities need companies like TD Bank to provide volunteers and opportunities for educational growth,” said Steve Bartlett, president and CEO for the Financial Services Roundtable. “We’re pleased to recognize these exceptional efforts.”
Suzanne Poole, executive vice president, retail sales strategy and distribution, TD Bank, accepted the award on behalf of the bank, saying, “Building strong communities where our employees, customers and other stakeholders live and work is a priority for us. That’s why we’re committed to educating Americans about savings so they’re financially savvy.”
