Global securities regulators have launched a new online tool that gives regulators and market players insight into various market trends and potential risks.
The research department of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Thursday launched a web portal to provide a statistical overview of specific securities markets.
IOSCO says that the initiative is designed to serve as a centralized point for monitoring global trends and risks; to provide a way of comparing how well markets are recovering since the global financial crisis; and finally, to provide IOSCO members and the broader financial community with easy access to key statistics, charts and indicators on a variety of securities markets.
The asset classes covered include corporate debt (both investment grade and high yield), covered bonds, securitized products, Islamic finance products, equity IPO volumes, equity market valuations, syndicated loans, and housing price indices.
IOSCO says that the portal, which will be updated on a monthly basis, represents the first step in an ongoing process to offer critical information on securities markets to the public. Indeed, it notes that new additions to the site are already in the works.
