Macquarie Private Wealth Inc. has recruited a team of advisors from Richardson GMP Ltd. to its Toronto office, the company has announced.
Butler, Philbrick and Associates, a team that specializes in managing the portfolios of Canadian health care professionals and their families, joined Macquarie on Wednesday.
The team is jointly led by Adam Butler, senior vice president, investment advisor and portfolio manager, and Michael Philbrick, senior vice president, investment advisor and portfolio manager.
Butler, who was a director of wealth management at Richardson GMP, grew up in a medical family and has developed a client roster of dentists and doctors. He joined Richardson GMP in early 2007, and previously worked at BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc.
Philbrick was also a director of wealth management at Richardson GMP, as well as Toronto branch manager. He previously worked as an investment advisor at BMO Nesbitt Burns and Scotia McLeod. He is a former football player who played with the Hamilton Ti-Cats for eight years.
Together, the advisors have built a discretionary book of business that generates more than $2 million in annual revenue.
They apply an investment approach called “Gestalt Architecture”, which involves analyzing market behaviour data to provide investment and planning solutions that, they say, work in almost any market environment.
